Long Live King of Comedy: Dolphy

After courageously battling  pneumonia for the past years, The King of Comedy, Rodolfo Vera Quizon, Sr , popularly known as "Dolphy", have died last night at 83. The nation is in  mourning for the loss of this great comedian.

I grew up watching only one of his movie "Home Along Da River" where Dolphy played a prisoner father who worked as a driver-bodyguard for his own son and daughter, but he is greatly known for his role as Kevin Cosme in  "Home Along Da Riles",
a Sunday sitcom in ABS-CBN way back in 1992. The show run for over 10 years and aired its last episode on August 10, 2003.

Netizens shared memories of him by tweeting how his films and television shows  affected their lives.

Missing the Home Along Da Riles.

And remembering Kevin Cosme, the poor father doing all he can for his family.

Truly, this early, he is already missed. He maybe dead but his contribution to the film industry will be greatly remembered. He has made us laugh, cry, laugh and cry at the same time. So as what his son Eric had told the media, "Give honor to him by smiling to the next person to you. Heaven is a happier place with him there. And for us whom he's left behind, comedy is dead, but long live comedy. "  Rest in Peace, King of Comedy.
