My Top 5 Favorite Regency/Historical Romance Books

One of my favorite genre in books is the Regency Era and Historical Romance. Imagining those ladies in their elegant gowns, corsets, luxurious carriages and formal speeches is mesmerizing.

The idea of dukes and duchess, calling them Lord and Lady, attending balls and soiree is really appealing.

I started to get hooked in reading this genre when Bridgerton was aired in Netflix. The elegant gowns and lively music and the chaotic Bridgerton siblings pulled me deeper into this world.

So, ladies and gentlemen, here are my favorite books, in no particular order. Be warned that my choice of authors are limited to those within Bridgerton world though and recommendations from it!

1. The Viscount Who Loved Me - Julia Quinn

The story about the eldest Bridgerton Anthony and his banter with witty Kate Sheffield. The plot is quite simple, Kate is looking for her sister's husband to be and Lord Bridgerton is one of her suitor.  The dialogues are smart, entertaining, engaging, funny.

2. Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake - Sarah Maclean

The Marquess of Ralston, Gabriel, a known rake or playboy in that era and Lady Calpurnia Hartwell, a spinster, enters into an agreement to do each other a favor. The book is paced well and how the two got together while going through Callie's list is hilarious.

3. A Night to Surrender - Tessa Dare

This is from Spindle Cove Series and is about headstrong woman Susana and equally strong Lord Bram. They both want different things but their chemistry is pulling themselves together.

4. Suddenly You - Lisa Kleypas

An arranged affair between spinster Amanda and his publisher Jack. I loved that this book shows how a novelist spinster woman is living her life, constrained by rules during that time, was able to get her freedom, albeit through a secret affair. The author showed really well the chemistry between the leads.

 5. The Secret Diaries of Miss Miranda Cheever - Julia Quinn

I really love this book. I have re-read this more than 5 times I think but I've never gone tired of the heartfelt scenes and dialogue between Turner and Miranda. The angst, Miranda's revenge moments and Turner's wooing her, realizing how much he loves her is particularly touching! Also, there  are a lot of funny scenes between Turner and Miranda as well as Turner's sister Olivia.

There it goes! I had a hard time selecting as there are so many good books out there.

Let me know your favorite list as well so I can check the book out.
